About this tool

Many official and business forms are fillable PDFs: they contain real form fields (text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons and drop-down lists). PDFPUMA lists every field in the form so you can fill them in one place, then writes your answers into the PDF.

This tool works with interactive (AcroForm) fields. A scanned or flat form that has no fields can't be filled this way — use Sign PDF to place text and a signature on any page instead.

You can also flatten the form: the answers become part of the page and the fields can no longer be changed, which is useful before sending a form on. Fill PDF forms is included in Starter and above; Business can fill a form from every row of a spreadsheet with the PDF form generator.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to PDFPUMA?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and processed on your device and the result is created there too — they are not sent to PDFPUMA's servers.

Why does it say my PDF has no form fields?

The PDF doesn't contain interactive fields — it may be a scan or a form that was printed to PDF. You can still add text and a signature anywhere with Sign PDF.

What does flattening do?

Flattening draws your answers onto the page and removes the interactive fields, so the answers can't be edited by the recipient.

Which plan includes Fill PDF forms?

Fill PDF forms is included in Starter, Business and Agency.

Are XFA (dynamic) forms supported?

No. Some forms made with Adobe LiveCycle use XFA, which most browsers and PDF libraries can't edit. PDFPUMA tells you when a form isn't supported rather than producing a broken file.

Can I use password-protected PDFs?

Not with this tool yet. PDFPUMA doesn't bypass PDF passwords or permissions. If you own the file, remove the password in the app you used to protect it, then try again.
