About this tool
When a contract, quote or policy comes back revised, Compare PDF shows exactly what changed in the text: added words in green, removed words in red, page by page, with the two versions side by side.
Compare PDF compares the text of each page. It doesn't detect changes to images, layout, fonts or colours, and text that moves to a different page appears as removed from one page and added to another. Scanned documents need OCR first so there's text to compare.
Download a PDF change report to share or keep with the file. Both documents stay on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to PDFPUMA?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and processed on your device and the result is created there too — they are not sent to PDFPUMA's servers.
Does it compare images and formatting?
No. It compares the words on each page. Visual-only changes such as images, colours or layout aren't detected.
Can I compare scanned PDFs?
Run OCR PDF on each scan first so they contain text, then compare them.
Which plan includes Compare PDF?
Compare PDF is included in Business and Agency.
Can I use password-protected PDFs?
Not with this tool yet. PDFPUMA doesn't bypass PDF passwords or permissions. If you own the file, remove the password in the app you used to protect it, then try again.
