How to split a PDF
- Add the PDF you want to split.
- Choose how to split: custom ranges, every N pages, or every page.
- Select Split PDF and download the files individually or as a ZIP.
About this tool
Use split when one document should really be several: separate invoices from a combined scan, chapters from a book, or each signed page of a form.
Choose custom ranges such as 1-3, 4-8, 9- to control exactly what goes into each file, or split automatically every few pages. Each output is a normal PDF with the original pages copied unchanged.
When you split into more than one file, you can download them individually or together as a ZIP archive.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to PDFPUMA?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and processed on your device and the result is created there too — they are not sent to PDFPUMA's servers.
How do I write page ranges?
Separate ranges with commas. Use a hyphen for a run of pages: “1-3, 5, 8-10” makes three files. “8-” means page 8 to the end.
What's the difference between split and extract?
Split creates several files. Extract pages creates a single new PDF containing just the pages you select.
Can I use password-protected PDFs?
Not with this tool yet. PDFPUMA doesn't bypass PDF passwords or permissions. If you own the file, remove the password in the app you used to protect it, then try again.
