About this tool

Watermarks make a document's status obvious at a glance and discourage casual reuse. Add text such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL, or use your logo image.

Set the size, colour, transparency and angle, place one watermark in the centre or tile it across the page, and choose which pages to mark.

A watermark is a visible marking added on top of the page. It isn't a security control: someone with PDF editing software can remove it.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to PDFPUMA?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read and processed on your device and the result is created there too — they are not sent to PDFPUMA's servers.

Can a watermark be removed?

Yes, by someone with PDF editing software. Watermarks deter casual copying and label documents clearly, but they don't protect content.

Which characters can I use in a text watermark?

Standard Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation. Support for other scripts is planned.

Can I use password-protected PDFs?

Not with this tool yet. PDFPUMA doesn't bypass PDF passwords or permissions. If you own the file, remove the password in the app you used to protect it, then try again.
